Tóm tắt This book addresses the elements of sound strategic action for health care delivery organizations: how managers can decide what to do and make it happen. It is not a book for the health system planner or armchair economist, but the senior practicing manager whose organization treats patients and who, at the least, must survive and, at best, be successful. This book tells you how to take the critical steps that lead to good strategic action. The general principles of competitive strategy as described in this book are applicable to senior managers of any kind of health care delivery organization. The details of how they might be applied and enacted will obviously be different, not only in different kinds of organizations, but within a specific organization as it assesses and begins to understand its individual competitive situation. The book can offer guidance but it can not replace the ultimate managerial skills-good judgment and good timing. The book refers repeatedly to the real dilemmas of managers drawn from the authorÒs experience of over 20 years of teaching, research and consulting.
