Tóm tắt This practical manual, which has been carefully revised and updated, is intended as a guide for all health workers with responsibility for implementing these measures, and for their supervisors and trainers. It deals with treatment of diarrhoea at home and in health centres, appropriate nutrition-including breastfeeding-during diarrhoea episodes, assessment of patients for dehydration, oral and intravenous administration of rehydration fluids, and antimicrobial treatment of dysentery, cholera, and parasitic diarrhoea. Practical means of preventing diarrhoea are also described, with the emphasis on effective precautions that can be taken in the home. As an aid to training, each of the principal sections of the book concludes with a check-list of the essential skills and knowledge to be acquired by health workers.
